Litigation & Dispute Resolution Partner Suresh Divyanathan successfully represented a social media personality in a defamation suit at the State Courts of Singapore earlier this month.

The social media personality was awarded S$60,000 in damages. As quoted by Suresh, “This judgment sets an important precedent in showing that social media personalities who are wrongfully defamed online can recover substantial damages from the perpetrators. Netizens should take this as a timely warning that their behaviour online should be no less civilized than their behaviour in person because Singapore Courts will not tolerate internet defamation.”
